Ganjam: Assistant Conservator of Forests of the Chilika Development Authority (CDA), Binod Acharya lodged an FIR today at Marine Police Station in Arakhkuda in connection with a chopper flying over the 'No Flying Eco Sensative Zone' in Chilika Lake.

According to reports, a chopper was spotted by some of fishermen in the area on September 15, 2018 hovering over the lake inside the no fly zone close to the water making ear-splitting sound.

After the news of the incident was reported in media, CDA officials lodged the complaint today.

"...at about 1:30pm one white coloured helicopter flying over Chilika Lake with huge sound and attempted to land in the locality. The local people, tourists and fishermen became frightened of such act by the pilot and inmates of the chopper. Such unauthorised flying over 'No Flying Eco Sensitive Zone' & hovering over water is making the atmosphere noxious and fouling the Chilika Lake water, damaging the navigation route," (sic) read the FIR.
