Bhubaneswar: The Special Relief Commissioner's (SRC) office on Tuesday directed district Collectors to remain alert in view of the heavy rainfall forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which has issued red warning for 9 districts.

As per the latest weather bulletin, the low pressure over North Bay of Bengal has now become well-marked and it will trigger heavy rain in several parts of Odisha in the next 24 hours.

DAY 1 FORECAST (Valid till 0830 hours of August 26)

Red Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Dhenkanal.

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur in the districts of Puri, Khordha, Angul, Deogarh, Sundergarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, Kalahandi and Kandhamal.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall also likely to occur at a few places in the districts of Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam and Nayagarh.

Day 2: (Valid from August 26 to 0830 hours of August 27)

Red Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur at few places over the districts of Sambalpur, Sonepur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Boudh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Sundergarh and Deogarh.

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely in Angul, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj and Kandhamal.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall likely in the districts of Cuttack, Jajpur, Balasore, Malkangiri and Koraput.

Day 3 (Valid from August 27 to 0830 hours of August 28)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh and Sambalpur.
