Bhubaneswar: No respite from inclement weather seems to be in the offing as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued heavy rain alert for several districts in Odisha. As per the latest weather forecast, heavy rainfall is likely to occur in several parts of Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Sundergarh and Deogarh in the next 24 hours.

HR Biswas, Director of Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar informed that already several parts of Odisha have witnessed heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours with Birmaharajpur in Sonepur recording a highest rainfall of 78.4 mm.

“Several parts of north interior and coastal Odisha will experience light to moderate rainfall while there is possibility of heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours,” said Biswas.

According to Biswas, overall situation is likely to improve after next 24 hours while there will be a drop of two to three degrees in the minimum temperature.

Moreover, dense fog alert has also been issued for several districts including Dhenkanal, Sundergarh, Puri, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and other parts from February 27.

Meanwhile, normal life in several parts of Odisha was thrown out of gear following rainfall activity in the past 24 hours.
