Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued heat wave alert for three Odisha districts- Khordha, Cuttack and Nayagarh.

As per the latest weather bulletin of the IMD, these districts will experience heat wave conditions in the next 48 hours (till March 28). The weather forecasting agency has issued 'Yellow warning' in this regard.

The wind discontinuity at 0.9 km above mean sea level from Rayalaseema to south Odisha now runs from Telangana to south Odisha across south Chhattisgarh, the IMD bulletin said.

Apart from the heat wave, light to moderate rain or thundershower is also likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Koraput and Gajapati between March 27 and 28.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Gajapati and Ganjam

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj,Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur.

Day 4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 29.03.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 30.03.2021)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Ganjam, Gajapati and Kandhamal

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak.
