Bhubaneswar: Odisha government today directed all educational institutions to begin morning classes from April 2 as a preventive measure against possible heat wave situation in the State.

The School and Mass Education (S&ME) department, in a letter to all educational boards, has directed the concerned authorities to take precautionary and preparatory measures in all educational institutions including public schools and privately managed schools to reschedule timing of classes between 6.30 AM and 10.30 AM.

As per the notification, the school authorities have been asked to serve midday meals at 10.00 AM and close the schools by 11.00 AM. Instruction has been issued to complete all assessment and examination by March 30th.

While the new academic session 2019-20 will begin from April 3rd, summer vacation will start from May 6th.

As the State is likely to experience heat wave conditions, the school authorities have been directed to make adequate provision of drinking water and make the physical training optional for students.
