Keonjhar: Headmaster of Belda Upper Primary High School in Keonjhar’s Joda block was arrested on the charges of harassing girl students on Saturday. The accused headmaster Baneswar Patra has been booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Crime), Suresh Chandra Patra said, “A complaint was lodged against the headmaster for misbehaving with some girl students of the school. Following a probe, the accused was booked under several IPC sections and POCSO act.”

Earlier, Patra was placed under suspension yesterday by Keonjhar district block education officer after 15 girl students of the school levelled harassment charges against him.

The girl students reportedly had left the hostel on Friday and took shelter in a nearby village.

As per the allegations, Patra used to misbehave and engage girl students in several works.
