Hailstones Pound Boudh, Damage Crops, Houses (See Pics)

Boudh: Hailstorm, rain, and thunder lashed Puruna Cuttack area under Harbhanga block in the district reportedly causing widespread damage to vegetation and houses in the region.

As per sources, an intense spell of hailstorm pounded the area today afternoon leaving local residents on toes. Hailstones as large as palms and even a bowl were also reportedly seen coming down hard during the storm. The storm has reportedly damaged standing vegetable crops and also asbestos-roofed houses.

Locals however did not leave the chance to go wasted and collected the hailstones as the rain showered a bit of relief for the residents from the days of scorching heat.

Earlier in the day, the IMD had issued moderate thunderstorm accompanied with hail, wind speed reaching 40 – 50 kilometres per hour, lightning and light to moderate rain for some parts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Nabarangapur, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Rayagada, and Koraput district.
