Group clash over installation of lighting for Eid-ul-fitr in Cuttack

Cuttack: Tension prevailed in Millennium City of Cuttack on Friday after a clash broke out between residents of Pithapur Nuasahi and Jhola Sahi over installation of lighting for Eid-ul-fitr.

As per reports, the groups were hurling stones and glass bottles at each other in which some vehicles were damaged.

On receiving information, Cuttack DCP Akhileshvar Singh along with three platoon police force rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

"There was a chronic dispute between people of the two localities over installation of lighting during Dussehra and other festivals. The situation is now under control, one platoon police force has been deployed and no one is injured," said Singh.

The DCP also informed that he has heard grievances of both the groups, it has been finalised the lighting will be installed as decided during Dussehra last year. Eid will be celebrated normally and final discussion on the dispute will be held after the celebrations are over.

No police action has been taken on any person till now. Further steps will be taken only after a case is registered, added Singh.
