Bhubaneswar: Within a few days of reopening, Utkal University has once again made it to the headlines for all wrong reasons. On Monday, a group clash reportedly broke out between hostel inmates of the varsity over 'sub-standard' food.

As per reports, tension ran high on the Utkal University campus following the clash between the two student groups of Gopabandhu Hostel over 'substandard' food being served at the Varsity canteen.

While one group reportedly complained of being served 'substandard' food, the other group protested the claims which turned uglier.

"Non-students attacked the students inside the campus with sticks and used abusive languages. Students' Union strongly condemns this act. We will hold a hunger strike and continue it till stern actions are not taken against the hooligans and all our demands are fulfilled," said a student, Bhabyaranjan.

Till the last report came in, a team of Commissionerate Police had reached the spot to pacify the students and bring the situation under control.
