Bhubaneswar: With tension prevailing at Raghunathnagar village on the outskirts of the city, the Commissionerate Police today deployed massive police force to prevent any untoward incident.

According to sources, as many as five platoons of police force have been deployed in the area to control the tension from flaring up further.

Earlier on Monday night, tension broke out between two groups of Sarakantara and Raghunathnagar villages under Khandagiri police limits.

As per information, locals of Raghunathnagar had handed over a group of people from Sarakantara to the police after a dispute ensued between the two groups two days ago. However, soon after police released the group last night, they allegedly hurled bombs at some houses of Raghunathnagar and fled the spot.

Irate over the incident, locals of Raghunathnagar staged a road blockade and also scuffled with police personnel. They also ransacked a PCR van.

Sources claimed four police personnel, including Khandagiri IIC, sustained injuries after stones were pelted at them by the mob while they were trying to maintain the law and order situation.
