Bhubaneswar: Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak and Chief Secretary AP Padhi on Wednesday discussed with the district collectors and SPs via videoconferencing possible measures to meet the situation that could arise out of the strike of the 108 ambulance services staff from March 18.

The minister and the chief secretary said they discussed alternative arrangements to be made during the 108 ambulance services staff strike.

They also hinted that if the need arises, the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) could be invoked during the strike.

Notably, 108 ambulance services staff have threatened to launch a cease work agitation from March 18 if their seven-point charter of demands are not fulfilled.

They have decided to stage a dharna at Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

The emergency services staff today joined work wearing black badges and staged a dharna in front of the district collectors’ office across the state.

Provision of minimum wage, an annual increment of 15% and rest house for staff are among the major demands of the 108 ambulance services staff.
