Bolangir: After losing their sole bread earner in an attack by Naxals in Chhatttisgarh’s Dantewada, the family of martyred cameraman of DD, Achyutananda Sahu is still awaiting government help.

Though the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, Rajyavardhan Rathore had announced a compensation of Rs 15 Lakh for the family of the deceased, such assistance is yet to be provided.

What is more surprising is the fact that the Odisha government is yet to announce any compensation for the martyred cameraman who hails from Ghusarmunda village in Bolangir.

Achyutananda Sahu was killed by naxals on October 30 when he along with a few other reporters of Doordarshan (DD) had gone to Dantewada for news coverage.

Sahu was shot dead by the red rebels while his colleagues had a narrow escape. Moreover, two other policemen were also killed in the Naxal ambush.

“Though the Centre had announced Rs 15 lakh, we are yet to receive the money,” said Sahu’s father while urging the Odisha government to provide a job to his second son.

Martyred cameraperson’s wife also claimed that so far the State government has not announced any compensation.
