Bhubaneswar: In what could come as a good news for State government employees of Odisha, the 4th Saturday of every month has been declared as a general holiday.

The decision by the government aimed towards improving the efficiency in administration and to make it more citizen centric, has been implemented with immediate effect.

As per the notification issued by the General Administration Department, the first half of every 4th Saturday which has been declared as a general holiday shall be devoted by the Heads of Offices at all levels for deliberating, training, brainstorming sessions related to innovative ideas for progress and development of the State.

This apart, the State government has also revised the day-to-day working hours in the government offices from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM with a lunch break of 30 minutes from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM.

The revised timings, however, are not applicable to Vacation departments, the notification reads.
