Bhadrak: Mystery shrouds the construction of a concrete road to  a crematorium at Malipadi village under Bhandaripokhari in the district which locals claim no one knows who built it and when.

According to reports, the 300 metre road to the only cremation ground in the village was sighted recently. Nobody in the village seems to have any clue about the contractor of the project or when it was made. Much to the dismay of the locals, they discovered the newly constructed road only few days back.

The concrete road has no information plate and the villagers are still in dark about the whereabouts of the contractor. Even the Sarpanch of Ranjit Gram Panchayat and the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Bhandaripokhari expressed surprise over the development. They too are clueless about the construction work which cannot be carried out without authority sanction.

Some of the villagers believe that a benevolent ‘Ghost’ might have carried out the construction works for the road to the crematorium.

“Going by the present market price the estimated cost of the road will be around Rs 3 lakh. Sand and stone chips have been stocked alongside the road. But we have no clue about the contractor of the project,” said a villager adding that the villagers are shocked to find the spooky development.

Most of the other villagers too believe in the ghostly intervention that helped resolve their long standing problem.
