Gangster Shakil’s Third Girlfriend On Commissionerate Police’s Radar

Cuttack: Not one or two, it seems so far that notorious criminal Shakil was operating his crime network with the help of three girls, of which two have already been arrested.

Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Akhileswar Singh today informed that the involvement of one more girl has come to the fore and already efforts are on to trace her.

“The third girlfriend of Shakil is also involved in the same two cases including an extortion call made to a city-based trader who was threatened to pay Rs 10 lakh,” said Singh.

Singh further stated that it was four to five months back that Shakil had started using his family members as well as three girls in passing information to his associates outside.

As Shakil is lodged inside Choudwar jail, it was getting tough for him to operate his crime syndicate after some of his associates were nabbed. Later, he roped in three girls to pass crucial information to his other associates, who are still absconding.

Commenting on how the criminal was successful in making a video call demanding extortion from inside Choudwar jail, Singh admitted that there were some lapses on part of the jail authorities.

“We have already written to the concerned jail officials to take necessary measures,” Singh added.

In the extortion video, the gangster had demanded Rs 10 lakh from a city based businessman last month. Five persons including Shakil’s father were arrested in connection with the incident.

Later two girls were arrested by Dargha Bazaar police on January 1 and January 3, 2020.
