Sundergarh: Four persons of a family were found dead inside their rented house at IT Colony in Rajgangpur area of the district on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as Ranjit Prasad, his wife and their son and a daughter.

Prasad is a resident of Bihar and was working as a mechanic at Dalmia-OCL plant in Rajgangpur, said reports.

As per neighbours, Prasad's house was locked for the last three days. However, after some locals sensed foul smell emanating from his quarters today morning, they informed the police.

Subsequently, cops along with a forensic team rushed to the spot and recovered the dead bodies after breaking open the door of the house in presence of a magistrate and later sent the bodies for post-mortem.

Though the exact reason behind the deaths of the family members, from prima facie, police suspects the case to be a suicide as a bowl with traces of milk was found from near the bodies and door was found locked from inside.

"Only after the post-mortem report, I can give a clear statement on the case," Sundergarh SP Soumya Mishra said.
