Sonepur: In an unfortunate incident, four members of a family including two minors sustained critical burn injuries while trying to save their mother after she attempted self immolation at Nuapada village under Tarabha police limits of Sonepur district today.

All four have been admitted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir, where they are currently undergoing treatment.

According to sources, the woman's husband Tiku Selma, who was also injured in the incident, had a quarrel with her after he returned to the home in an inebriated condition late last night.

This morning, when Tiku was outside, his wife Kaushalya tried to commit suicide by setting herself on fire after pouring kerosene on her body.

During the incident, their 8-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son who were also present inside the house recieved burn injuries.

Getting information, Tiku rushed to his house and tried to rescue his family members but also sustained burn injuries on his hands and legs. A team of firefighters later reached the spot, doused the flames and rescued four of them.
