Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has requested the Union HRD ministry to forward its project proposal on 'Achieving Excellence in higher education in the state of Odisha' to the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) to enable the state government to get World Bank assistance to the tune of Rs 1019.70 crore for the project.

In a letter to Union HRD minister Smriti Irani on Wednesday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the state government had submitted a copy of the preliminary project proposal to the HRD ministry on October 28, 201 and had followed it up with two reminders on December 18, 2015 and January 20, 2016.

As per the request of DAE in the Union Finance ministry, the state government had also submitted the 'Debt Sustainability Certificate' for the externally aided project, the chief minister said requesting the Union minister to forward the project proposal of the state government to the DAE at the earliest for further action at their end.
