Bhubaneswar: A day after quitting the Congress, former spokesperson of the grand old party, Sonali Sahu today joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) camp here. “Inspired by the ideologies of PM Modi and to be part of the development process in the country, I joined BJP,”she said.

Sahu further stated that BJD has been in power in the State for past 19 years. However, there is rampant irregularities in the functioning of all government departments.

"There is a secrete nexus between BJD and Congress in Odisha. In the 19 years of BJD rule, people are fed up as there has been growing resentment over rising corruption and other irregularities," she added.

Responding to a media query, Sonali said, “To work for the society and bring a change, one needs a political platform. I want to serve the people of the State.”

Yesterday, Sonali accused the Odisha Congress leadership of neglecting women members.

Sonali further stated she was forced by top leaders to resign. “Though PCC president Niranjan heads Odisha Congress, but his son Nabajyoti Patnaik is calling the shots. There have been massive irregularities in ticket allotments and both Niranjan and opposition leader Narasingha Mishra are responsible for irregularities in ticket allotments,” she alleged.
