Bhubaneswar: BJD Supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today suspended the former BJD legislator from Balasore, Jiban Pradip Dash for allegedly indulging in anti-party activities.

"Jiban Pradip Dash, Ex-MLA, Balasore is hereby suspended from Biju Janata Dal for his anti-party activities with immediate effect," stated an official notification issued by BJD's General Secretary (Media Affairs), Manas Ranjan Mangaraj.

However, Dash feigned ignorance and said he has no idea about the exact reason behind his suspension from the Biju Janata Dal.

"I am on way to Bhubaneswar for some work. They were already hatching plans to take action against me and as the elections are over now, they have taken the decision. Some people accused me of speaking in favour of BJP, but no action was taken against the actual culprits. I am being falsely fabricated," Dash told OTV without naming anyone.

The three-time legislator was included in the list of star campaigners of the party for the by-polls in Balasore Sadar and Tirtol assembly constituencies that concluded on November 3.

Dash was one of the aspirants for the party ticket to contest the by-polls from Balasore Sadar assembly seat. However, the party fielded Swarup Kumar Das as its candidate.

Dash had unsuccessfully contested the 2019 assembly election from Balasore Sadar seat against BJP's Madan Mohan Dutta.
