Bhubaneswar: With the likely formation of an anticyclone over Odisha, foggy weather is all set to prevail in the State from Thursday (Nov 21). The coastal areas will also witness moderate fog during the next 48 hours.

The night time temperature in Odisha is not going to see any significant drop till November 26.

As per the weather observations by US based Climate Prediction Centre, an anticyclone air circulation will form over Odisha and its adjoining states by November 21. Under its influence, the State may witness foggy weather over the State, except south coastal region.

IMD also forecasts that coastal Odisha will witness shallow to moderate fog during the next 48 hours. The national weather agency, however, didn't see any appreciable drop in minimum temperatures (night time temperature)  in the State till Nov 26.

A glance at the IMD data shows this November has been comparatively warmer, especially in the coastal areas. The departure from normal of maximum temperature (day time temperature) in coastal areas ranges between 0.5 - 3.2 degree Celsius. Highest departure from normal maximum temperature is measured on Nov 19 in Ganjam district.

The central region of Odisha, Angul, Dhenkanal and Sonepur, has exhibited the maximum departure from normal of the minimum temperature in the State. The drop has been to the extent of 5.8 deg C from normal minimum temperature.

As per IMD regional centre here, only 5 places have recorded minimum temperature of below 15 degree Celsius on Tuesday (Nov 19). Kandhamal is the coldest place in State, where the mercury dropped to around 12 deg C. Sundargarh and Sonepur followed with minimum temperatures of 13 deg C, respectively.
