Bhubaneswar: Fog continued to hit vehicular movement in the morning hours at several places of Odisha including in the Twin Cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack for second consecutive day on Monday.

The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar had on Sunday predicted that fog will cover several parts of the State, especially during early morning hours for the next two days.

The Met Centre had also issued yellow warning for dense fog in parts of North Coastal Odisha, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khordha, Nayagarh, Puri, Sundargarh and Boudh on Monday.

Similarly, yellow warning for dense fog has been issued in many districts including Bhadrak, Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal and Cuttack on January 26.

On January 27, shallow to moderate fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Jajpur, Angul, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack, the Met Centre had said.

On the other hand, the IMD’s Regional Meteorological Centre had earlier said that minimum temperature (Night temperature) is likely to rise gradually by two to three degree Celsius in the interior districts of Odisha during next 2 days while it will be above normal by 2-3 degree Celsius over the districts of Coastal Odisha during next 2 days.

The office of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has also issued an advisory in view of the dense fog alert across the State. In a letter to police and transport department officials, the SRC directed them to take adequate steps for controlled movement of vehicles on National Highways during dense fog.

The advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure to prevent road accidents in different parts of the State.
