Bargarh: Five accused including a minor have been arrested in connection with the murder of Sanjib Pradhan during Ravan Podi at Sohela Market in Bargarh district on October 8.

The accused have been identified as Sumanta Suna, Naresh Podha, Sanjeev Kumbhar, Sanay Kumbar and a minor from Kumbhara Bandhapada.

As per reports, the deceased Sanjib Pradhan of Sareipali area of Chhattisgarh along with four persons- Pradeep Tarai, Khirod Bhoi, Daktar Bhoi and Bidyadhar Tarai of Badipali area of Bargarh district had picked up a quarrel while buying country-liquor pouches from Kumbharabandhapada village on last Tuesday.

The argument between two groups soon took an ugly turn and Pradhan was allegedly hacked to death with a sharp weapon, sources said.

All four from Badipali area, who sustained critical injuries in the clash, were rushed to Bargarh hospital for treatment. As Bidyadhar Bhoi’s condition worsened, he was subsequently shifted to Burla hospital while other three were discharged from the hospital after a preliminary treatment.
