First Odia Movie Released In The United States

Cuttack: ‘Chhabirani’ has become the first Ollywood movie to be screened at a theatre in the United States of America soil. As per reports, the Odia flick based on the true story of the sensational gang rape and murder of Chhabirani that had sent shockwaves across Odisha during the 80s was released in a theatre in Boston, USA on November 23.

The initiative of releasing the Ollywood movie is the brainchild of Odia Society for New England.

The movie Chhabirani directed by Bobby Islam hit the theatres across Odisha on November 19. The star cast includes actors-Aman Parasar, Mihir Das, Siddhant Mohapatra, Anu Choudhry, and Babu Pradhan.

The movie has been produced by Manorama Mohapatra, Biren Mohapatra and Budhadev Sahu. The director of the film informed that efforts will be made to release the movie in other countries in the coming days as well.
