Keonjhar: Unable to bear harassment by headmaster, nearly 15 girl students of Belda Upper Primary School in Joda block of Keonjhar district left the hostel and took shelter in nearby village on Saturday.

As per reports,  headmaster Baneswar Patra allegedly used to harass the girls and engage them in various works. Moreover, he also used to pass lewd remarks at us in a drunken state, alleged a girl student.

“The headmaster always used to misbehave and engage us in several works,” added the student.

The matter came to light after the students took shelter at the house of a local guardian after vacating the hostel last night. Following complaints, police later detained the headmaster.

Meanwhile, the headmaster Baneswar Patra was today placed under suspension by Keonjhar district education officer (DEO) after conducting preliminary investigation into the allegations levelled by students. More details awaited.
