Farmers take to streets demanding drought-hit status for Kuchinda

Sambalpur: Government works in Kuchinda block of the district came to a grinding halt today as residents of the area staged protests demanding drought-hit status for the sub-division.

Hundreds of farmers and other locals led by BJP MLA Rabi Naik stormed the streets by taking out rallies and raised slogans against the ruling-BJD government.

Farmers staged dharnas in front of the district Agriculture, Block and Tehsil offices. The agitators also gheraoed and locked up the main gates of the offices.

The agitating farmers locked up the Sub-collector's office as well.

To prevent any untoward incident, the district administration had to deploy police force.
