Bhubaneswar: Protesting the government's attempt to prevent them from holding a mega convention at Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar on November 5, farmers on Thursday staged demonstration in front of police stations across the State.

Protesting the action of the government, farmers today took out rallies raising slogans against the government and staged protests in front of police stations. Later, they submitted memorandums to the police station officials.

Thousands of farmers, under the aegis of Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS) demanding price, prestige and pension, had marched towards the Capital city for the mega convention but police imposed Sec 144 in Tamando area on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar preventing them from congregating.

The NNKS had earlier announced to hold two padyatras from October 29 to November 5 demanding fair price, pension and prestige for 36 lakh farmers of the State.
