Farmers’ Meet In Support Of Farm Bills In Odisha: Jual Oram Terms Agri Bills As Historic

Rourkela: Union Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jual Oram addressed a farmers’ meet in Rourkela today termed the farm bills as historic and said that the bills will ensure livelihood and income generation for farmers.

Oram said that the Congress and a few other political parties are misleading the farmers by spreading misinformation about the new bills.

"Now, there can private investments in the Essential Commodities Act which was not possible earlier. There will be the protection of trade and commerce and agricultural products. As there will contractual farming, no one can misuse it," said Oram.

Earlier on Saturday, he had said, “Many forces of the Opposition are trying to mislead farmers without going through the clauses of the legislation. The protests against the legislation by the opposition parties are backed by vested interests and influence of middlemen."

The new legislation will usher in transparency and help farmers get benefits that they had been deprived of for long,” the Union Minister had added.
