Bargarh: There seems to be no end to the sufferings of farmers in Odisha as the incidents of the cultivators committing suicide continues unabated in the State. On Monday, another farmer from the State has reportedly taken the extreme step over alleged crop loss.

The deceased farmer has been identified as Subha Rana of Kharamuda village in Bargarh district.

Body of Rana who had been missing since February 28, was recovered today from a forest near Kharamuda village under Attabira block in the district, said sources.

As per reports, Rana had taken loan from local moneylenders for agricultural purposes in his two acre of land. However, he allegedly suffered crop loss due to pest attack.

Meanwhile, Rana's family members alleged that he couldn't bear the mental stress due to crop loss and debt burden and committed suicide by consuming pesticide.

Last week, a 25-year-old farmer Mohan Kalata of Chulimal village under Binika block in Gajapati district also committed suicide by consuming pesticides due to alleged crop loss.
