Bonai: Police on Monday arrested a man on charges of killing his 'drunken' son at Kalta area under Koira police limits in Sundergarh district.

Following a family dispute, the accused Santosh Danga allegedly axed his son Samaran to death and later dumped the body in a nearby forest, police said, adding that the accused father will be produced in court today.

According to sources, Samaran used to quarrel with his family members everyday in an inebriated condition over some trivial issues. The family feud turned fatal when the accused father irked over frequent violent activities of his son hacked him with an axe. A profusely bleeding Samaran died on the spot.

In an attempt to destroy evidence, the accused along with his wife tied the hands and legs of the deceased son and carried the body in a sling to nearby Matajhara forest and threw the body in a nullah in the forest.

Getting information, a team of officials from Koira police station reached the spot and seized the body for post-mortem.

Police said the body has multiple injury marks on neck, head and other parts. The axe used in the crime has also been seized, police added.

The neighbours and relatives of the accused have been questioned regarding the crime. Further investigation in this connection is on.
