Bhubaneswar: People across Odisha woke up to severely cold weather conditions on Sunday. As many as 15 places recorded minimum temperature below 10 degree Celsius with Sonepur recording the lowest minimum temperature of 3.4 degree Celsius.

As per the latest weather observations recorded by IMD at 8:30 AM today, Daringbadi recorded minimum temperature of 5.5 degree Celsius followed by 4.6 in Angul, 6.1 in Titlagarh, 6.5 in Bhawanipatna, 6.6 in Keonjhar, 7.3 in Jharsuguda and 7.4 in Sambalpur.

Twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded a minimum temperature of 8.8 and 10.2 degree Celsius, respectively.

Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar officials informed that already cold wave alert has been issued for several districts in north interior Odisha including Keonjhar, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Dhenkanal and Angul.

Similarly, cold wave conditions will also prevail in some coastal districts including Cuttack and Balasore, duty officer Ajay Nayak.

"Sonepur recorded a lowest minimum temperature today. Several districts are also experiencing moderate to dense fog and cold wave condition is likely to prevail for next couple of days. There is also a possibility of rain in some places in the State from January 1, 2010," said Nayak.
