Bhubaneswar: Acting on a tip off, in a joint operation, Rourkela police, DVF and CRPF on Saturday seized explosives weighing around 30 kg from the Saranda forest under K Balang police limits of Sundergarh district.

Police sources said combing operation has been intensified in the area following the seizures.

Earlier, three days back, the security personnel had recovered one tiffin bomb, 36 gelatin sticks, one booster and one detonator from the Renjada forest along the Odisha-Jharkhand border.

It is suspected that the Maoists on the run, due to intense police activities in Saranda and Bonai sub-division, might have hidden the explosives for future use.
