Deogarh: Security forces on Wednesday recovered a huge cache of explosives and items belonging to Maoists during a combing operation in a forest near Kerada village under Barkote area of Deogarh district, informed Deputy Commandant of OSAP (SS) Battalion, Laxman Singh today.

Acting on a tipoff on presence of Maoist leader Sushant in the jungle, SP of Deogarh ordered the District Voluntary Force (DVF) to carry out an 'area domination' operation, informed sources.

Accordingly, a search operation was launched by a unit of DVF personnel on Monday and Tuesday. During the operation, the security forces recovered Maoist literature, posters, uniforms, tender papers, tarpaulin and explosives, said sources.

“We recovered explosives along with Maoist literature, flags, books and hand-written notes in which the red rebels had jotted down some of their tactics,” added Singh.

Earlier, on June 1, posters allegedly put up by Maoists were found at Rengali village in Bolangir district threatening to blow up Belpada police station within a month. Though no Maoist division claimed to have put up the poster, the hand-written note in Odia had created a flutter in the region.
