Bhubaneswar: No respite from wintry rains for five districts of Puri, Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati and Nayagarh for next 24 hours. Widespread rains are predicted for tomorrow in the five districts.

As per the latest IMD bulletin (see the image below), except the five districts mentioned above, districts like Kandhamal, Boudh, Subarnapur, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Koraput and Malkangiri will witness scattered rains, which means at a few places, on January 4 (Saturday). Rest of districts will experience rains in only isolated places.

Rains that are caused by a trough which passes through north interior Odisha, will recede from the State on Sunday. However, if IMD forecast is to be believed, dense fog will envelope most places in Odisha from day after tomorrow (Sunday). Foggy weather will haunt the State till the coming Tuesday (January 7).

However, IMD has not issued any cold wave warning for Odisha till coming Wednesday. The long range forecast of IMD, even, shows no likely cold wave in Odisha till January 9 (Friday next).

As per local met office here, the night time temperature in Odisha will see a drop by around 4-5 degree Celsius from Sunday. The minimum temperature at most places in the State is predicted to be at around 9-10 degree C. And the day time temperature is predicted to remain at around 28 degree Celsius.

Following cloudy sky, while the minimum temperature in Odisha has risen over 10 degree C, the maximum temperature (day-time) in all but two places in the State has dropped below normal. Talcher recorded the lowest temperature of 12 deg C today at 5:30 hours. Malkangiri recorded the highest temperature of 31 deg C. Till 8:30 hours today, Sonepur has recorded the highest rainfall of 3.1cm.
