Khurda: In what could become a major embarrassment for the Excise Department, shocking visuals of a constable making a deal with some brown sugar dealers inside the office has come to light.

In an exclusive video obtained by OTV, the constable can be seen smoking and drinking with some alleged drug peddlers while trying to strike a deal inside his office situated on the premises of Khurda collector's old office.

In the video, the Excise Department official can be clearly heard saying: "Is it Rs 2600 or Rs 2500 for 1 gram of the white powder?"

However, the accused constable Biswambar Biswal refuted the allegations while trying to avoid the camera.

"I had gone there for some other work on a senior staff's order," said Biswal.

On the other hand Inspector of Khurda Excise Department, Ranjan Kumar Nayak said that the constable could have gone there to get some information about the deal.

"He is very good at gathering intelligence, so I think he must have gone there and mingled with them to elicit information," said Nayak.

While Sub-inspector of Khurda Excise Department said that he was unaware about any such incident, Khurda Superintendent of Police has assured to take action against the constable if found guilty.

Samarjeet Das, Sub-inspector, Khurda Excise Department said, "I didn't have any idea about this incident. I came to know only after I saw the video. An enquiry will be conducted and subsequently a decision will be taken."

Responding on the matter, Diptiranjan Ray, Khurda Superintendent of Police said, "It is a case of indiscipline. If proved, a case of abetment could be filed against the errant official."
