Cuttack: Orissa High Court on Tuesday granted conditional bail to former sports administrator and Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) secretary Ashirbad Behera, who was earlier arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Artha Tatwa chit fund scam.

The court granted bail to Behera on two sureties of Rs 1.5 lakh each. Apart from surrendering passport, the court has asked Behera not to influence the probe and witnesses in the case.

It is pertinent to mention here that Behera was arrested on the basis of a non-bailable warrant issued by Special CJM, CBI court in the month of September.

According to reports, the CBI had filed a chargesheet against Behera and Director of AT Group on August 29 under several sections of IPC and Prize Chits & Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act, 1978.

Earlier, Behera had termed his arrest a conspiracy citing that the timing coincided with elections of new office bearers of Odisha Cricket Association.
