Cuttack: Evaluation of answer sheets of this year’s Matriculation examination began today across the State amid tight security.

Around 16,030 teachers are examining the answer sheets of Matric, Madhyama and Open school students at 60 evaluation centres set up throughout the state, informed sources.

The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) has taken necessary steps to carry out the evaluation process in fair and error-free manner.

The board has estimated to complete the evaluation process by April 5. Elaborate security arrangement has been put in place to avoid any untoward incident.

As many as 5.87 lakh students had appeared for the Annual HSC Examination 2019 at 2,953 centres across the State. The exam was conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) in Odisha began from February 22 and continued till March 25.

Despite stricter measures were put in place by the board to conduct the examination in a free and fair manner, question papers of Odia, English and Mathematic went viral on social media soon after the commencement of the respective examinations.

This apart, other lapses including missing of 108 OMR sheets of Mathematics paper from an exam centre in Malkangiri also raised questions on the sanctity of exam.

As many as 19 teachers and staff had been suspended from their service while 13 people were arrested for being involved in the lapses.
