Engineering student goes missing while bathing in Puri Sea

Puri: An engineering student went missing while taking bath near Holiday Resorts on Puri sea beach today morning. The missing youth has been identified as Shrikrishna Kumar (18), a student of Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra in neighbouring Jharkhand.

Sources said Krishna along with his four other friends had reached Puri for a holiday trip yesterday and went to have a bath in the sea today morning.

While the youths were bathing in the sea, Kumar went missing after a high tide swept him away.

It is suspected that the mishap might have occurred due to rough sea conditions under the impact of cyclone Phethai.

Life guards and fire brigade personnel immediately swung into action and launched a search operation. Till the last reports came in, the body of the youth was yet to be traced out.

Puri Sea beach police have also reached the spot to initiate a probe into the mishap.
