Puducherry: The health condition of eminent writer and Padma Shri Manoj Das improved on Sunday, informed Dr Ranjita Das, his nephew’s wife.

“By God’s grace and all the prayers from his well-wishers, he is doing fine in the hospital. Not only his own daily chores, but he is searching for us and taking stock of our health conditions as well,” said Ranjita.

The news of his recovery came as a gust of fresh air for his millions of fans and admirers spread across the globe as his health condition improves, though marginally, after almost three months of treatment at a nursing home in Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Puducherry.

As per reports, he was admitted to the nursing home after his health condition deteriorated due to old-age complications. His health was further complicated after he fractured his hand three months back.

Speaking about his treatment, Ranjita said, “The Ashram has been providing all the care possible to him. The doctors here are in constant touch with specialists in other cities. But if the government wants to take him elsewhere for treatment then they are most welcome.”

Taking stock of Das' treatment, Union Minister Pratap Sarangi said, “I have discussed the matter with Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan and he has assured me to provide all kinds of health assistance needed for the treatment of the Padma Shri Awardee."

“Even a team of specialists can be sent to Puducherry for his treatment ay moment if needed,” added Sarangi.
