Bhubaneswar: Eminent film director and cinematographer Raj Gopal Mishra, popularly known as Raju Mishra passed away at his residence in Jatani of Khordha district today. He was 72.

Mishra's wife, Pratima Manjari informed he died after suffering a cardiac arrest this afternoon.
Mishra had last month received the prestigious Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Award 2020 for his lifetime achievements and invaluable contribution to Odia cine industry.

This apart, Mishra has also bagged several awards and accolades which include Jayadev Samman in 2014.

Mishra has many blockbusters to his credit which include, 'Chaka Akhi Sabu Dekhuchi', 'Asuchi Mo Kalia Suna', 'Pua Mora Kala Thakura', 'Jor Jaar Mulak Taar', 'Sagar Ganga', 'Rupa Gaan Ra Suna Kaniya', 'Sata Micha' among others.

Mishra has also directed in seven Assamese films. He is an alumnus of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune.

Mishra, previously, had gone through a heart surgery.
