Jajpur: After a prolonged operation which spanned for days, Forest department officials along with a special team managed to capture the wild elephant that reportedly trampled four persons to death in Jajpur district.

As per reports, the jumbo was tranquilized near Kantipur jungle under Danagadi block in the district. Expert teams of Nandankanan Zoo and Similipal today took help of a drone camera to trace the elephant.

The elephant was reportedly captured after being tranquilized twice by the Forest department officials. "Our tranquilizer team began operations today at around 11:30 am. We tracked the elephant with the help of a drone camera and tranquilized it," said Ranger of Jajpur Road Forest Division, Devendra Patnaik.

Despite repeated efforts, the Forest department officials and locals had earlier failed to drive the elephant away into the forest.
