Bhubaneswar: Unaccounted cash worth over Rs 17 lakh was seized from several parts of Odisha in the past two days. As per reports, Badamal Police in Jharsuguda seized Rs 4.5 lakh and Rs 1.5 lakh from two separate vehicles on Friday.

Similarly, the Election flying squad seized Rs 6.70 lakh from a van near Koida Chhak under Bonai block of Sundergarh district. Sources said that the money was being transported from Barbil to Koida area while further investigation to ascertain the source is underway.

In another incident, Jaipatna Police detained two youths after Rs 5 lakh recovered from their possession in Dharmagad block of Kalahandi district. It may be noted that as stipulated by the model code of conduct, which is in force now for the upcoming elections, individuals are not allowed to keep more than Rs 50,000 in their possession.
