Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: The Twin City Commissionerate Police (CP) today issued a poll code advisory for the political parties and candidates on organising public meetings, roadshows, rallies in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

As per the guidelines, the candidates of the political parties can hold meetings, rallies and roadshows only after getting prior permission.  The routes approved by the administration for rallies should be followed strictly and the roadshows shall not cover the roads beyond the prescribed limit. The rallies should be taken without causing traffic jams while ensuring safety of general public and smooth movement of traffic, informed sources.

Plying of number of vehicles in a rally (including three wheelers/ four wheelers) should be limited to 10. In case it exceeds the limit of 10 vehicles, then the convoy should be broken off to maintain a distance of 100 metres between them, said sources.

Besides, the Commissionerate Police has restricted the use of loudspeakers/public address system after 10:00 PM. Moreover, the size of the flags to be put up in the vehicles should be 1 X0.5Ft and the maximum size of banners has been restricted to 6X4Ft.

"In case of violation of the guidelines, case can be registered and penalty can be imposed against concerned political parties and candidates under Odisha Urban Police (OUP) Act," said Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner, Satyajit Mohanty.
