Bhubaneswar: The ruling-BJD in Odisha will be wiped out in the 2019 elections, predicted BJP'sOdisha in-charge, Arun Singh while claiming that the countdown for Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has already begun.

Singh further stated the BJD is losing ground in the State fast as many leaders from other parties are keen to join BJP. Party’s prospects in the State have brightened after Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda joined the party and there is a positive vibe across the state, he said.

“In the coming days, people of Odisha will get more good news. Recently, Jay Panda joined the party and people of Odisha are quite happy about it. More leaders will continue to join the party,” Singh stated.

Responding to media queries on Bijoy Mohapatra and Dilip Ray deserting the party, Singh said that everyone is with the party.

Singh stated that the party will announce the candidate list in one week. On being asked about PM Modi contesting from Puri, Singh further said “The party’s parliamentary board will take the decision on whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi will contest from Puri Lok Sabha constituency or not.”

Reacting to Singh, BJD MP Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo said as the saffron party has less number of leaders of significance, it is inviting leaders from other parties.

“BJD is in a strong position and will get majority in the upcoming polls,” he emphatically said.
