Elderly Woman Thrashed By Son & Daughter-In-Law in Odisha

Kandhamal: An elderly woman was allegedly thrashed by her son and daughter-in-law for asking monthly maintenance money in Phulbani town.

According to reports, one Kuntala Nayak has three sons and a daughter. However, she along with her husband stays with their daughter while her sons jointly provide them maintenance money of Rs 2, 500 every month. But for the past two month her middle son, Ramesh Nayak had not allegedly given his share of Rs 1,000.

On October 12, Kuntala had gone to Ramesh's house and when she enquired about the money, both Ramesh and his wife, Runu thrashed her mercilessly.

When Kuntala moved the Phulbani Town Police seeking their intervention in the issue, cops tried to mediate between them asking both Kuntala and his son Ramesh four-days time to resolve the issue.

However, even though her son Ramesh had come to seek apology, her daughter-in-law did not turn up with any response, following which Kuntala registered an FIR at Phulbani PS.

"I would have forgiven them if daughter-in-law had come and sought an apology from me, but she didn't even come," rued Kuntala.
