Elderly Couple In Odisha Banished By Daughters Spending Nights Under Tree

Jagatsinghpur: In a gut-wrenching incident, an elderly couple has been dragging self from pillar to post for the last couple of months after they were allegedly beaten up and banished by their own children.

Reportedly, Fakir Lenka of Nuagaon in Jagatsinghpur district had moved to Nuasahi in Cuttack along with his wife and two daughters 15 years back. However, owing to family disputes over reasons unknown, Lenka and his wife were allegedly thrashed by the younger daughter and her husband.

Left to fend for themselves after being thrown out of the house, the couple has been spending sleepless nights under a tree, and sometimes on the verandah of a local priest during adverse weather conditions.

While Fakir Lenka has alleged that they were frequently beaten up by daughter and son-in-law, his wife Narmada said even though they begged their children, they were not allowed to enter the house.
