Bhubaneswar: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) today grilled Champua's Independent MLA Sanatan Mahakud for seven hours in connection with transportation of iron ores extracted illegally.

As per sources, the ED officials summoned Mahakud based on a report submitted by the Shah Commission probing the mining scam in State. Mahakud’s Maa Kunari Transport Agency allegedly transported iron ore for more than one mining leaseholder involved in the scam, sources added.

The ED has already registered a case against Mahakud under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

After his marathon interrogation, Mahakud said “The officials had asked to furnish business-related documents and questioned about my businesses. This is the first time I was summoned to depose before the ED. Besides, the sleuths said if they have any doubts about the documents, I might be summoned again.”

On July 9, 2015, the ED had raided several transport companies including Maa Kunari Transport Agency for alleged links with the mining scam.
