Bhubaneswar: The clear standing length (CSL) extension work of the NTPC exchange yard in Talcher has been provided with MSDAC (Multi-Section Digital Axle Counter) replacing the obsolete analogue Axle Counters for better efficiency.

Informing about the modern signalling system commissioned in NTPC yard, East Coast Railway (ECoR) stated that the yard is now provisioned with 13 DP Multi Section Digital Axle Counter.

After successful completion of the non-interlocking work in two days, the clear standing length of NTPC Train exchange yard at Talcher connecting NTPC Block Cabin has been increased to accommodate standard rakes.

Three berthing lines of exchange yard have been increased by approximately 100 metres each. to ease the operational feasibility.

As per reports, the work has been done by Signal and Telecommunication Department (project) at Bhubaneswar and Divisional Unit of Engineering and TRD under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager, Khurda Road and active co-ordination of Chief Signal and Telecommunication Engineer (Project), Bhubaneswar.

Last month, in order to enhance the train handling capacity between Ambodala and Lanjigarh Road railway stations in Rayagada-Titilagarh Railway Section, the East Coast Railway commissioned modernisation work in connection with yard remodelling by providing additional crossovers and shunting neck in the yard. It has also commissioned Intermediate Block Signaling in the route.

The major benefits include – enhancement of train handling capacity in this route and increase of speed of the trains; and without occupying the main running lines this will make engine reversal system flexible.
