Sundergarh: The Static Surveillance Squad of Election Commission today restricted BJD Sundergarh Lok Sabha candidate Sunita Biswal's road show near Purunapani under Nuagaon block in the district on charges of not obtaining prior permission from the competent authority.

As per reports, Biswal was scheduled to attend public meetings and road shows at various places of Nuagaon block today. When the EC flying squad intercepted her procession near Hatibari, she did not stop and proceeded with the rally. Later the officials stopped her procession near Purunapani chhak.

However, Biswal clarified that she had obtained necessary permission from the authority before organising the road show.

"We had filed application at the district Collectorate seeking permission to hold rallies and the authorities had allowed us to proceed with it. They had also assured us to contact them over phone if and when required,” Biswal said.

The BJD candidate was later allowed to continue with her rally after she produced the hard copy of the permission from the Collector.
