Drunk Driver, Co-Passenger Held For Causing Series Accidents In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A man driving an SUV in an inebriated condition caused a series of accident on Vani Vihar-Baramunda stretch on NH -16 damaging several vehicles including some two and four wheelers in the city on Wednesday.

The driver and a co-passenger have been detained and being questioned. Both have consumed excessive alcohol, police sources said.

The speeding SUV first hit a bike at Vani Vihar square and fled on the busy National Highway. Later, the vehicle hit three bikers on the over bridge near Fire Station square at Baramunda while it speeded up in a bid to escape the police interceptor vehicle which chased it to stop.

Four bikes have been completely destroyed while some four wheelers have been partially damaged in the series of mishaps.

However, no casualty has been reported, sources said.
